once part of Cherokee County, but in 1851 the boundaries were changed to the
present day lines and Dallas became the county seat. The county was named for
Revolutionary War patriot John Paulding. The county was the site of much Civil
War action and there are many Civil War Memorials to attest to the areas rich
historical past. Most of the current new home development are located in eastern
and southeastern Paulding County between highway 61 and the Cobb County line.
